Queering Travel: The Finest LGBTQ+ Tours Around the World

I’m not sure about anyone else, but when I travel to a new (or familiar) destination, one of the first things I complete is search for “LGBTQ+ Tours [Insert City Here].” For me, travel isn’t just about detecting the popular landmarks or trendy neighborhoods, it’s about diving head-first into local life and tradition. And as a Queer person who operates an Queer walking tour organization in NYC, I want to perceive, see, and encounter the heartbeat of the local Gay community when I travel, learning stories that may not be found in traditional guidebooks.

This crave prompted the creation of my control LGBTQ+ walking tour company in Brand-new York City, Christopher Street Tours, in 2018. We are LGBTQ+-owned and -operated, offering public and private tours all throughout the year. Our mission is to share stories and uplift voices of those that paved the way before us, and I hope that if you discover yourself in NYC, you’ll join us on a tour!

Experiencing an LGBTQ+ tour during your travels can offer a unique lens through which to search the world and the community. In this post, connect me on a global expedition as w

Gay Travel Tours & Trips

  • What are some trendy destinations and highlights on gay travel tours?

These tours take you to welcoming places with great LGBTQ+ scenes and cultural experiences. In Italy, you can check out Naples' gay bars around Piazza Bellini, spend moment on the beautiful Amalfi Coast, and swim in the clear blue waters of Capri. If you go to South Africa, you'll get to encounter Cape Town's gay society, go on safari in Kruger National Park, and visit traditional Xhosa villages. In Croatia, you can join a gay sailing trip from Dubrovnik to Split, stopping at accepted spots like Hvar and quiet nude beaches along the way. Other travelers mention how much they like that these tours mix famous attractions with real local LGBTQ+ experiences.

  • When is the best time to publication a gay travel tour?

The best day really depends on where you're going. For Italy's coast, book between May and September when the weather's perfect for exploring Naples and the Amalfi Coast (75-85°F/24-29°C). If you want to go sailing in Croatia, aim for June through September when the water's warmest (70-75°F/21-24°C). South Africa works year-round, but Se

Brighton is one of Europe's queerest cities, a cosmopolitan resort of recreation, escape and freedom since the 18th century.

Peers and Queers is a tour of Brighton from a woman-loving woman, gay, bisexual, gender non-conforming and queer perspective, in a colourful 90-minute walk along the beach and historic city centre.

We take in over 200 years of history including Regency Dandies, 1960s homosexual woman and gay existence, and political protest. We learn about Anne Lister's trip to Brighton (Gentleman Jack), as adv as Lord Byron, Oscar Wilde and Dusty Springfield. We also uncover extraordinary unsung heroes, including a pioneering doctor who lived as a man long before women could training medicine, an Edwardian 'drag king' and a 'same-sex' marriage in 1923.
