Since at least 1991, LGBTQIA+ folks have been meeting up — via their hold community-organized events — at Disney parks. They simply called it Gay Days.
The name stuck.

ORLANDO | Walt Disney World announced it will be hosting one of the largest LGBTQ workplace conferences at its resort later this year.
Out & Equal’s annual LGBTQ Workplace Summit will get place Sept. 12-14 on Disney property in Orlando. The mass media and entertainment conglomerate has dedicated to host next year’s conference as well.
Out & Equal debuted its Workplace Summit at Walt Disney World’s Swan & Dolphin in 2016 following the Pulse tragedy. The upcoming 2023 summit will be the nonprofit’s first to return to Disney since that inaugural year.
“Out & Equal is the premier organization working exclusively on LGBTQ workplace equality. Through our worldwide programs, Fortune 500 partnerships and our annual Workplace Summit conference, we help LGBTQ people thrive and support organizations creating a culture of belonging for all,” the groups states on its website.

The Walt Disney World Resort in Florida is scheduled to host what has been billed as the "largest LGBTQ+ conference in the world" later this year. Out & Equal, a group that campaigns for gay, dyke and transgender rights in the workplace, is due to hold its 2023 workplace summit at the resort, from September 11-14.
According to Out & Equal's website, around 5,000 people are expected to join its workplace summit in September, which it describes as "the preferred place to network and share strategies that create inclusive workplaces, where everyone belongs and where Gay employees can be out and thrive."
Out & Equivalent lists the Walt Disney Company as a top-tier "titanium" supporter, along with other major brands including Apple, Uber and Bank of America.
Other companies listed as supporters at lower tiers include Mcdonald's, IBM, Walmart, Google and Visa. Government bodies, including the Core Intelligence Agency and the U.S. Department of State, are also included in the list with the Miami Herald reporting they will have booths at
LGBTQ people flock to Florida for Disney's Gay Days celebration
ORLANDO, Fla. — Tens of thousands of LGBTQ people are flocking to central Florida this weekend to go on theme park rides, mingle with costumed performers, sway at all-night parties and lounge poolside at hotels during Gay Days, a decades-long tradition.
Even though Gov. Ron DeSantis and Florida lawmakers have championed a slew of anti-LGBTQ laws — spurring the most prominent gay rights community in the U.S. and other civil rights organizations to issue warnings the Sunshine Declare may no longer be safe — Gay Days organizers are still encouraging visitors from around the world to come to one of Florida’s largest gay and lesbian celebrations.
They say a large turnout will send a letter that LGBTQ people are not going away in Florida, which is continually one of the most popular states for tourists to visit. If the hoped-for 150,000 or more visitors come to the half-week of pool parties, drag bingo and thrill rides at Orlando’s theme parks and hotels, then “that’s the point,” said Joseph Clark, CEO of Gay Days Inc.
