The movies on this list all have prominent queer themes, and were ranked according to critical reviews, via Rotten Tomatoes.
Here’s how their ranking was determined: “Culled from a longlist of hundreds, movies considered for the list prominently feature gay, woman loving woman, trans, or queer characters; concern itself centrally with LGBTQ+ themes; present its LGBTQ+ characters in a fair and realistic light; and/or be seen as a touchpoint in the evolution of queer cinema.”

Any Greatest Of All Second list will be divisive. That’s kind of the point, right? No list - no matter how inclusive, will ever link up to your favorites.
So for this list, each of our staffers chose their top five favorite queer films. Then we assigned a point value to each position. After adding up their scores, we came up with the list below. Some will hate it. Some may love the last tally.
I am, by far, the oldest staff member and I came of age when older members of the community common their love of movies that were old when they came out.
Part of what made these movies so precious to us is that they weren’t readily available.
You must think of this was in the days before home video or streaming services. If an old movie you loved was running on television at midnight, you stayed up to view it.
You never knew when it might be on again. Of course, certain films were classics, you knew “The Wizard of Oz” would be on sometime around the holidays. The same for “Meet Me in St. Louis,” “It’s A Wonderful Life,” and “Easter Parade.”

In celebration of Pride month, we’ve compiled a list of the best Fresh Gay movies you can find on Amazon Prime Video right now. You’ll locate breakout hit comedies (Rocketman) alongside acclaimed documentaries like Tab Seeker Confidential and God Loves Uganda.
The titles below are sorted from the best LGBTQ+ films on Amazon Prime Video – those included with a subscription, not those you have to procure or rent for an additional value – and ranked by adjusted Tomatometer score (which takes into account the number of reviewers weighing in, and the number of reviews per film for movies released in a given year). To be included, films had to have a Fresh Tomatometer score (60% or above).
"So bad it's good." Its the cinematic category no film wants to be part of, but one that some movie lovers enjoy the most.
Rotten Tomatoes, the movie review aggregation site, has listed every turkey ever to acquire an almost-impressive perfectly lousy 0 percent score.
To secure some sense of fairness, each title on this list has received at least 20 reviews by movie critics.
"We wanted to make sure the movies we're 'vouching' for as the worst ever include inflicted a minimum threshold of agony on critics," the Rotten Tomatoes site states.
